Public Affairs Intern with UCare
Description:
UCare is an independent non-profit, providing health plans, services, and coverage for Minnesotans. UCare works with healthcare providers and community organizations to provide the best health coverage for individuals choosing health coverage through MNSure, Medicare, Minnesota Care, Medical Assistance, and adults with disabilities. UCare originally started with a focus around obtaining adequate health coverage for people with low income, and only in the past few years joined the individual market.
As a Public Affairs intern I have been helping the policy team throughout this (Jan 2017-May 2017) important legislative session. I have been attending committee meetings, hearings, and floor votes at the Minnesota State Capitol, while taking notes for my supervisor. I have also been doing various research projects tracking the federal health care reform agendas.
Assignment Example:
Research on the Minnesota legislative delegates and their response, voice, and reasoning for opinions on health care reform as of April 17th, 2017.
